Reader’s Chair
Dear Parents,
In order to strengthen the children’s oral reading skills and also practice public speaking, the children will be involved in READER’S CHAIR. At the beginning of each month your child will bring home a calendar that will contain the schedule for reading that month. On their assigned day, each child is to have a book, which has been practiced at home to read to the class. The book should be limited to 5-10 minutes. In addition, please help your child prepare his/her Reader’s Chair paper by writing down 4 who, what, where, and when questions to ask the other students after completing the story.
This has always been an enjoyable activity for both the teacher and the children, as well as an effective way to see all the improvement in reading that each child makes throughout the year.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP,
THE SECOND GRADE TEACHERS
***Please note due to class sizes, your child may not read each month. ***
