Information About Our Classroom
Class News - Every week I will have a weekly newsletter called, “Class News”, noting important subjects and activities that will be covered in class. I will email this newsletter out to parents every week. It can also be found here. This weebly can be found by licking my name located on the district website. I believe that it is important to keep you, the parent, just as involved in your child’s learning as I am.
Homework – Students will be responsible for reviewing math addition and subtraction facts, as well as reading 20 minutes every night. By second grade, it is required that students have basic facts memorized. Please make reading is a family activity. You and your child can read together, your child can read to you, or you can read to your child. Other homework will be given as needed. It is used to reinforce material learned in school. Homework will be collected the following day unless otherwise stated.
Reader’s Chair – Every month a calendar will go home with your child’s name marked on a specific day. This calendar states the day your son/daughter is responsible to have a book to read to the class. Along with the book your child needs to have his/her Reader’s Chair paper with the questions filled out to ask the class when he/she is finished. Please be sure the book chosen can be read with minimal assistance. It is important to practice this book at home with your child. It will make him/her feel more at ease while reading to the class. The book should not take more than about 10 to 15 minutes to read. We will read the book over zoom.
Star of the Week – Each student will get a chance to be “The Star of the Week.” You will receive a form to fill out and you may make a poster with your child to share with the class.
